FARO DE PUNTA CAPONES
It was my third time to overnight camp in Capones Island last month but I always keep coming back. Why? One of the reasons is that I don’t have decent shot of the lighthouse. I don’t have an UWA lens on my first camp and the UWA lens that I borrowed during my second camp has a problem.
Faro de Punta Capones or Capones Lighthouse is one of the few remaining old Spanish lighthouse in the country. The lighthouse became operational in 1890. It has been operational for more than 100 years guiding vessels entering and leaving Subic Bay.

It was a failed sunset shoot at Manila Bay with my friend Allan when I took this photo. We walked from Cultural Center of the Philippines up to the Jones Bridge looking for a good subject but we ended up eating dinner in Binondo.
The photo above is the Manila Central Post Office. It is the post office of Manila and the head office of Philippine Postal Corporation. The building was designed by Juan M. Arellano and built in 1926. It was rebuilt after the worldwar in 1946. It is one of the beautiful neoclassical inspired building in Manila. Located in Intramuros along Pasig River, fronting Liwasang Bonifacio / Plaza Lawton.

This shot was taken at Brgy. Sisiman in Mariveles, Bataan. I already been to this place as early as 2003 because some of close friends live near the area. I never thought that this place would be a photographer’s destination especially for landscape photographers.

St. Augustine Church - Paoay, Ilocos Norte - 06/12/10
Paoay Church aslo known as St. Augustine Church is part of UNESCO World Heritage List. A three-storey coral stone bell tower stands a few meters away from the church. The Church is a unique combination of Gothic, Baroque and Oriental designs. Its facade reveals Gothic affinity, its gables show Chinese elements, while the niches topping the walls suggest Javanese influence (reminiscent of the famous Boroboudur Temple).
Earthquake Baroque is a style of Baroque architecture found in places like the Philippines and Guatemala, which suffered destructive earthquakes during the 17th century and 18th century, where large public buildings, such as churches were rebuilt in a Baroque style.

THE OCTAGONAL LIGHTHOUSE

Mahatao Lighthouse - Mahatao, Batanes - 10/10/2010
The Mahatao Lighthouse dates back to 1700s. It is located on a high ground near the San Carlos Borromeo Church. The Mahatao lighthouse functions like an ordinary modern lighthouse, but one thing separates it from the modern ones, it provides a simple but very ingenious means of guiding boats to port during night. From the sea, the boats from the sea follows a course in which the two lighthouses signals though merging their lights as one. This would be a path in the sea that have no coral reefs of rocks. When the light of the two lighthouses go separately, this means that the boat is going the wrong direction and in danger of running aground on the reefs or could possibly smash into huge boulders that litter the in coastline of Batan Island.
