BASILICA’S GOLDEN FACADE
Basilica de San Martin de Tour or Taal Basilica is considered to be the largest church in the Philippines and Southeast Asia. It was founded in 1572 near Taal Lake shore. In 1754, it was destroyed in the largest eruption of Taal Volcano. The present site of the Basilica is atop the elevated hill facing Balayan Bay. The ruins of the original church can still be seen in San Nicolas.
